(That’s, “Hello, friend!” for you non-Ewokese speakers. We don’t blame you if you didn’t have Ewokese as a language option in high school, though. It’s a criminally underappreciated language.)
Today’s post is all about those anthropomorphized teddy bears, the Ewoks. Specifically, the Ewok Wickett W. Warrick, the cutest, cuddliest little badass the Rebel Alliance has ever known. Everyone say it together: “Awwwwwwwwwww, he’s so CUTE!”
Wickett is first introduced in Star Wars Ep. VI Return of the Jedi, when he discovers Princess Leia Organa lying in the forests of Endor, after she was knocked unconscious during a speeder bike chase with Imperial storm troopers. Once she awakens, she wins him over with food, and he helps her defeat more Imperial scout troops. Wickett takes Leia to his home, Bright Tree Village, where his fellow Ewoks have captured the rest of the rebels. Despite the wanting to sacrifice Han Solo et al to appease their new god (C-3PO), they are convinced to join the Rebel cause and help fight the Battle of Endor to destroy the shield generator that protects the Death Star.
Later in his life, Wickett is elected chief of Bright Tree Village, and, one assumes, spends the rest of his life making cunning traps and conning visitors into giving him more manna manna (food).
